For almost 20 years - "Dedicated to building stronger relationships"

How do you change the communication breakdown?

Conflicts and misunderstanding occur as communication breaks down to disrespectful verbal attacks or withdraw. You can't solve financial or child rearing disagreements if you can't get people to openly and constructively discuss the issues. No compromise or decisions can be made if people can't talk without angry outbursts or without all parties feeling they can be heard and understood.

Choose your Attitude

1. First and most important thing to understand - YOU CANNOT CHANGE ANOTHER PERSON BUT YOU CAN CHOOSE TO CHANGE YOURSELF!

2. Change how you are thinking by choosing to dwell on the positive

  • James 1:2-4 were we are told, Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trails of many kinds. We can choose to have a good attitude even when we face trials. No mater what is happening to you, you can choose to be positive and pleasant, or angry, and disrespectful.

3.  Evaluate your reaction to circumstances

  • Our attitude is 10% of what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. In other words, our response is a choice. Each of us can choose to be upset by things that happen to us or we can choose to not be upset. We can choose to be happy or we can choose to be miserable.

These things may sound simplistic but unless you take responsibility for how you are reacting, things will not improve but just continue to get worse.

If you find you are unable to make the necessary changes to improve communication, you might need some coaching to help you accomplish this.  Please go to our Marriage Coaching page and fill out the form and we will contact you.
